by Jakob Ferdinand SCHREIBER publisher (1809-1867) "Der Buchbinder" (the bookbinder) Original lithograph from the collection entitled "30 Werkstätten von Handwerkern. Nebst ihren hauptsächlichsten Werkzeugen und Fabrikaten. " published in Esslingen by Jakob Ferdinand Schreiber around 1860, generally composed of thirty lithographic plates printed in black and then hand-colored in the publisher's laboratories. Beautiful specimen with full margins, with the usual vertical central fold of binding and few minimal defects at the edges, overall in excellent condition. Inside the laboratory, five workers are engaged in the various stages of working leather and hides to produce, in addition to saddles, other items of use and animal harnesses, while outside two others adjust the canopy of a small carriage. The Schreiber Publishing House was founded in 1831 and had considerable success in the production of children's books and printed information material, its editorial heritage has been preserved in a museum located in the city of Esslingen. Bibliography: Borst "Ein Stück Deutscher Kulturgeschichte - dem Verlag JFSchreiber zum einhundertfünfzigsten Geburtstag" Esslingen 1981.
